A mythical territory among towering cliffs and incredible transparencies

Located below Cape Bellavista, the Marina di Arbatax Base is ideal for setting sail to explore the wilds of Ogliastra, a fast-growing region that still retains a great and mysterious charm.

You will be able to visit the little hidden gems south of Cape Monte Santo, the Islet of Ogliastra, Cape Bellavista with its Red Rocks and its protected bays, preferably avoiding the more famous 'creeks' now overcrowded and overused.

Let our skippers guide you through an unforgettable experience, discover the charms of the Ogliastra coastline from a new point of view.

Itineraries, Bays & Landings

Our landings are distributed along the most beautiful coastlines of Sardinia!

Sailing north, the beaches of the renowned Santa Maria Navarrese, the islet of Ogliastra, Pedra Longa and the inaccessible limestone cliffs that mark the coast for more than 10 miles. You will be able to visit small hidden gems south of Capo Monte Santo, avoiding the more famous 'creeks' whose charm is partly overshadowed by the large number of visitors.

Putting the bow to the south, the scenery changes. Past Capo Bellavista and its Rocce Rosse we find the Gulf of Porto Frailis, ideal for a lunch or aperitif on board, followed by long stretches of the whitest sand. The Lido of Orrì, the beach of CEA and that of Barisardo just to mention the best known.

A small rocky island of red porphyry and pink granite, surrounded by crystal clear water and covered with Mediterranean scrub.

The Island of Ogliastra is a small agglomeration of rocks, varying in size and composition, which has always attracted man since ancient times due to its extreme proximity to the coast. A refuge and nesting area for various species of seabirds such as shearwaters, gulls and marangoni is covered with lush vegetation typical of the Mediterranean coast. On it can be found the ruins of some buildings from the late 1800s and the statue of the Madonna of Ogliastra, placed on a rise about 50 meters above sea level in 1991, the work of Sardinian sculptor Pinuccio Sciola (1946-2016).

Favorite place for evening aperitifs while waiting for sunset and as an intermediate stop on northbound sailings. Also good for a refreshing swim and snorkeling on a mostly rocky mixed bottom.

Slight emerald-colored cove with a mixed sand and pebble bottom, with unspoiled nature and no signs of human intervention.

Sa trempa e su lettu beach is a small bay with light gray sand and pebbles and unspoiled nature. Difficult to reach on foot, it is almost exclusively a destination for boats that can stop on the shallow, emerald-colored sandy bottom. Its isolation has preserved its wild beauty typical of this part of the coast.

Suitable either as an intermediate stop on the sail north or as a long stop for a light lunch. The sandy bottom lends itself to long swims on the emerald water.

Being a slight inlet on an Open coast and exposed to the eastern quadrants it gives its best in westerly winds and breezes and holds.

Its tall limestone spire characterizes its toponymy and wild beauty.

Perda longa is characterized by a spectacular spire of dolomitic limestone overlooking the sea almost 130 meters high. Below it we find a not-too-deep seabed with a large portion of light-colored sand on the north side that shows colors ranging from light blue to deep blue in particularly clear water. Also reachable by land via a road, it houses a trattoria on the side of the ridge but, seen from the sea, retains its naturalistic purity and majestic presence almost intact.

Favorite place for lunch stop on daily outings. Perfect for atmospheric bathing under the imposing stone spire.

A small turquoise pearl of pebbles and white sand, shrouded by a wild and rugged coastline looking south over the Pedra Longa spire.

Baus Beach, also known as Punta Calettino, is a very recently formed stony beach with a wild, unspoiled nature. If one is particularly lucky, it is possible to appreciate a small waterfall that flows directly into the sea, feeding the natural supply of sand and debris. The sea is a deep turquoise color that drops into dark blue as you move away from the small inlet.

The northernmost outpost on day trips. Suitable for long stop for lunch and snorkeling on a mostly sandy bottom with a few scattered rocks.

Weather

Ideal conditions

All conditions ranging from the full north, rotating westward and reaching the southwest.

Small bay of light sand, with a medium-sized beach and enveloped by the residential areas of Arbatax that extend over two arms of low rocky coastline.

The bay of Porto Frailis is a small gem of golden sand that, thanks to dua wide arms of wind-smoothed rocks surrounding it, provides excellent shelter from many of the area's typical Weather conditions. On the southwest promontory stands the tower of Zaccurru (now the tower of San Gemiliano) built in the late 1500s and placed to protect this wonderful natural harbor.

A must stop on sailing trips south, this sheltered bay is perfect for an aperitif or light lunch. Great for lazy swimming on its clear waters, it's the ideal place for a long stop in total relaxation.

All conditions, including high winds, ranging from northeast to southwest counterclockwise.

Wide, light sandy beach stretching from Arbatax southward for about 2 km.

Basaura beach is a long expanse of golden yellow sand that stretches for almost 2 km without obstacles. Also called the "airport beach," due to the presence toward the southern imite of the Tortolì tourist airport, it allows ample freedom of movement for those who love large spaces. The sea is a crystal-clear celste color and the seabed tends to be shallow and without danger to bathing, especially during the summer period.

Good alternative to Porto Frailis or as an intermediate stop while sailing south. It also naturally lends itself to aperitifs, light lunches and long swims on a sandy seabed

Our Skipper

Fabio is a biomedical engineer, Milanese by birth and Turin by adoption, a great lover of the sea and sailing, who to follow his aptitudes decided to move to Sardinia and later to open a Sailover nautical base. A very curious and enterprising boy, he will accompany you with great care and passion along these wonderful coasts and will not fail to transfer his knowledge about the area and sailing.

Where it is located

The ARBATAX Base - Marina di Arbatax is located inside the Port of Arbatax, where the numerous dinghy rental activities are also located. It can be reached in a few minutes from the most important center of Tortolì and in a little more from the main towns that gravitate along the coast, from Santa Maria NAvarrese to Barisardo.

Food & Beverage

In the construction of our shipboard menu, we favored small local productions and created a fresh menu with character. Perfect for life on board even before a dip in the sea.

We have carefully developed the entire process from the selection of raw materials to on-board service. A certified system, with a dedicated packaging line and training, allows us to always offer the highest quality and freshness.

On our boats we comply with all HACCP requirements.
