Cagliari
Discovering the shores of the capital city and its secrets
Discover the Golfo degli Angeli
Cagliari, city of sunshine and gentle breezes.
The capital of Sardinia and its most populous city, Cagliari is a perfect ecosystem suspended between sky, land and water. A city with Mediterranean charm overlooking the beautiful Gulf of Angels that embraces the entire southeastern coast of the island.
The symbol of the city is the Devil's Saddle promontory, which derives its name from the mythological battle between the archangel Gabriel and Lucifer. Visitable both on foot and by bicycle, the Devil's Saddle appears even more beautiful and surprising when visited from the sea.
Let yourself be seduced by the gentle breezes of the Gulf of Angels, its sea between cobalt blue and emerald green, and the soft hills that draw its landscape.

Where to sail by setting sail from the base in Cagliari - Marina Piccola
Starting from Cagliari Marina Piccola, our sailing trips easily take you to discover the renowned Poetto beach, the overhanging limestone cliffs of the Sella del Diavolo promontory (Cala Fighera, Calamosca and Capo Sant'Elia) and Cagliari's fascinating skyline.
Sailing eastward, on the other hand, it is possible to reach fantastic natural harbors among imposing granite coastlines: the splendid Baia Azzurra, Mari Pintau, Torre delle Stelle and others. seduced by the gentle breezes of the Golfo degli Angeli, its sea between cobalt blue and emerald green and the soft hills that draw its landscape.
One of the longest beaches in the world, just a stone's throw from the city of Cagliari. An endless strip of white sand and turquoise water.
At nearly 7.5 km long, Poetto beach is one of the most frequented places throughout the year. The extreme proximity to the cities of Cagliari and Quartu S. Elena, the countless number of bathing establishments, clubs and kiosks on the beach, and the possibility of practicing any kind of water and outdoor sport make this beach an iconic place in southern Sardinia, not to mention its beauty of colors and shades at different times of the day.
The town beach that lends itself both to sailing and to stops with aperitifs at sunset until the final swims before returning to port after a day of sailing.

It reaches its peak in winds ranging from Mistral (Northwest) to Tramontana (North) even though it offers no wind shelter.
The promontory that is a symbol of Cagliari because of its conformation and the legendary history that surrounds it, hides on its slopes small paradises of rocks and very white Sand.
Part of the Capo di S. Elia, the promontory called Sella del Diavolo overlooks the Marina Piccola marina and turns out to be the ocidental limit of Poetto beach. Its strategic location in the center of the Golfo degli Angeli, exploited since ancient times, preserves architectural traces of Roman times and the ruins of an Aragonese tower from the 1500s on its summit. Its high rock and sandstone ridges show its troubled geological history, a history that continues to this day with landslides and mudslides especially on its eastern front. Its peculiar conformation in the shape of a horse's saddle takes us back to a legendary story lost in the mists of time that tells its birth and toponymy.
Sella del Diavolo offers two sides that lend themselves to fantastic snorkeling swims by offering different bottoms and sheltered from almost opposite Weather conditions. The northeast side is great for sunset aperitifs while the southwest side is at its best in the morning in low wind conditions or with the Mistral.

Excellent shelter from winds ranging from Mistral (northwest) to Tramontana (north) with a curious vortex effect that results in a slight gusty breeze from the south opposite the prevailing wind.
Small bay surrounded by rocky overhangs and famous for its historical naturist vocation.
Bay that offers good shelter from the Mistral wind has a Mixed bottom of pebbles, rocks and Sand suitable for snorkeling and swimming. The water, not always Limpid, takes reflections ranging from Turquoise to Emerald especially in the sandy area to the west. Also on the western side can be seen the old fort/bunker, the abandoned enclosure and a military demesne house.
Location that lends itself to short stops for swimming and snorkeling but especially as an intermediate stop while sailing west to treat yourself to the view of Cagliari from the sea.

Ideal conditions
The small bay is sheltered from waves in Mistral (Northwest) conditions, even strong ones, but never from the wind, which is gusty and changeable in direction due to the conformation of the coast and a large canyon that mainly channels the Tramontana (North) wind.
Salient features of the bay are the picturesque view of the lighthouse on Cape St. Elias and some sunken wrecks of post-World War II cars.
Cala Mosca is, coming from Poetto, the last bay before the city of Cagliari. The seabed is a Mixed of Atlantic posidonia and rock with a few sphourdic patches of white Sand. The lighthouse that marks Cape St. Elias and the proximity of the harbor results on territory belonging to the military domain as does the large barracks that stands out in the center of the small bay. Several mid-20th century buildings such as the Cala Mosca Hotel reveal the extreme proximity to the town.
Great location for a swim under the lighthouse and long stop where you can have a light lunch. Also suitable as an intermediate stop for snorkeling during the day's sailing exploring the coast of Cape St. Elias

Discreet shelter from winds ranging from Mistral (Northwest) to Levant (East) with respectively good cover under the lighthouse or near the stacks.
A privileged and evocative vantage point of the city that reveals its geometries through the hills on which it is suspended.
The city of Cagliari is particularly striking when viewed from the sea. The ancient part of the Castle with its ramparts and ancient palaces, the port where the masts of hundreds of sailboats soar and the Marina area, the countless churches including above all the Basilica of Bonaria with its monumental staircase, the hills on which the architectural fabric of the city and its parks are distributed. Cagliari is one of the most striking capitals of the Mediterranean, and seeing it from the sea only adds to its charm and does justice to its complexity and beauty.
Moving stop to admire the city of Cagliari as seen from the sea. Arriving as far as the outport, in addition to having a privileged view of the city, you may be lucky enough to meet the dolphins that station in those waters
